The number of radio carrying volunteers  is currently at 34,  and they are willing and able to respond to an emergency.  This number includes 2 fully licensed Paramedics and 10 trained First Responders, most of which are also trained as firefighters.  16 more volunteers have taken the  First Responder training course, and seven of those taking  the National test passed it and are now licensed First Responders.

Our fire department does more than respond to fires.   We respond to any emergency in which we can offer assistance:   traffic accidents, other vehicular accidents, and medical emergencies, as well as fires. Even in those traffic accidents where there are no injuries, your fire department responds - working traffic control and accident scene cleanup.

The membership roll currently consists of 205 familes and businesses in the area.  This is a real boon to our fire department and we hope that number will continue to climb as we strive to provide quality fire and rescue services to our rural area.  Check out the Membership page to see if your name is on the list.

Under the direction of fire chief, Steve Prise and our 8-member advisory board, we plan to continue upgrading and improving our rural fire association.

We are always looking for additional men and women who would be willing to help out.  More radios are available.   So, come to a meeting and get involved.   Meetings are the first Monday of the month 7:00 PM alternating between  the Octavia and Smithville stations.
